St. Rose of Lima is an active participant in the RIM program. This program, founded in 1986 in Boston, involves a number of communities in Eastern Massachusetts in the challenge of offering social services to refugees and other newly arrived individuals seeking asylum in the United States. The members of RIM work with clients to assess their needs and make appropriate referrals for services. We assist them in finding housing, teaching them English, and providing sources of food and clothing. We also help find training for jobs, assist them in finding jobs and work with them to get their families to the United States.
At St. Rose of Lima, we have sponsored a number of families through this program. As a member of the Tri-town cluster (along with the Congregational Church of Topsfield and Trinity Church of Topsfield), we actively participate in meetings and fund-raising activities. Each spring, we offer a Pansy/Flower Sale after each Mass. On August 9, we hosted a grant-writing meeting at the Trinity Church in Topsfield. We also take part in some of the state-wide RIM fundraisers, such as the Annual RIM International Dinner at Roxbury Community College.
